About Chromasun

Founded in 2008, Chromasun is a leading developer and manufacturer of rooftop friendly high performance solar solutions.

Chromasun’s unique MCT solar collector provides high grade thermal energy but in a familiar flat panel format with no external moving parts. The MCT is designed to drive high performance air-conditioning absorption chillers and other industrial process heat applications directly from sunlight. It is the most space efficient solar technology available and can produce more energy per unit of roof area than any competing technology. As a leader in the space, the Chromasun team of engineers and professionals have decades of experience in utility scale solar, air-conditioning engineering, product development and manufacturing.

" Chromasun’s mission is to harvest solar energy for air-conditioning, power, process heat, and lighting – right on the roof. "

Chromasun employs ex-auto workers from the defunct NUMMI plant in Fremont, CA on its production line. These workers are highly trained in volume manufacture with high quality control. They are a perfect example of how the clean economy can reemploy skilled workers from traditional industries.

Research Partners

In 2004 the Centre for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSES) at the Australian National University constructed one of the first rooftop hybrid concentrating solar systems providing both electricity and hot water to a new student residence built on the ANU campus at Bruce Hall. In 2008 CSES joined with Chromasun to further develop the technology and incorporate it in the more rooftop friendly MCT flat panel product.
